ICL Research Profile

The Universal Communication X (UCX) is a new collaborative effort between industry, laboratories, and academia to create an open-source, production grade communication framework for data centric and high-performance applications. UCX makes common network code available through a universal, portable, and performance driven communication API that exposes low level capabilities of high performance networks, henceforth providing critical services for implementing features needed by high level parallel programming constructs. These services include lightweight remote memory access operations, lightweight synchronizations, active messages, atomic operations, etc. Open UCX has been successfully deployed to support communication middlewares, including OpenSHMEM, Open MPI, and PaRSEC.
